Every Ukrainian refugee who arrives to the Czech Republic should apply for registration or a refugee visa in a foreign police department. These are two different types of staying here and you can learn more about them below.
This visa allows you to stay in Czech Republic for 1 year, until the war conflict will end in Ukraine. If it is still not safe to return to Ukraine, you can change the duration of the visa up to 3 years. With this type of visa you can have a work permit and medical insurance. But, if you cross the border of the Czech Republic after getting this visa, it will be automatically canceled. If you plan to move to another country in the EU, you can ask for a refugee visa in that specific country.
What documents should you have?
You can use this type for legal stay in the Czech Republic. If you crossed the border using your biometric passport, you can stay in the EU for 90 days. You can travel all around Europe, but you can not work and you need to pay for medical insurance by yourself.
If you already have a long-term permit in another country of the EU, you should ask about the refugee visa there.
For those Ukrainians , who have worked in the Czech Republic or Slovakia in the previous 5 years, we can offer a tax return that will take up to 2 months. We will need your permission and the earning document for processing. If you don’t have any, we can ask your employer instead of you for free! This is a good option to get additional money in such a complicated situation.
