Which documents do I need to file a tax return in Belgium?

To file a tax return with us you will need these documents:

EWR

The EWR form is used to declare unlimited tax liability of those who have their permanent residence outside of Belgium. Persons with unlimited tax liability can make use of benefits such as tax allowances. If you don't live in Belgium but over 90% of your income is generated in Belgium, you are entitled to unlimited tax liability. We wrote a more in depth article about the EWR form.

E401

The E401 form is used to declare the composition of your family when trying to claim family benefits. It is used to declare how many children you are taking care of and your marital status.

Marriage certificate

If you got married within the year you are filing your tax return for, you will need to attach your marriage certificate to your tax return.

Birth certificate

If you had a child within the year you are filing your tax return for, you will need to attach your child's certificate to your tax return.

Copy of ID/passport

To file your tax return and confirm your identity you will also need to send us a copy of your ID or your passport.

Earning document - Fiche

The Fiche 281.10 (your earning document) is a record of how much money you have made and how much tax has your employer deducted from your paycheck. Your employer is obligated to give you this document at the end of each year.
